Today we had the day off, so everyone had the opportunity to discover Seoul on their own. Since there are many things to see and do in Seoul, people split up in groups to discover the places they found interesting. Beautiful views of the city skyline were enjoyed at the Seoul tower, while finally realising how big Seoul actually is (and we can tell you, it is impressive). The beautiful mountaintops on the background in contrast with the modern skyline is definitely something different than we are used to back in Enschede. For some, as reward after climbing all the way up the hill to get there, this view was their big reward. Even though, there was also a bus going to the top of the hill. After this exhausting hike, some decided to rest their feet in the cold river, while listening to a live Korean band. Today was also good day to score souvenirs like typical Korean cute animal emoticon socks, chopsticks and business card holders with traditional patterns. The biggest Korean shopping mall and in streets filled with stores in the city centre were a great place to go shopping! Others felt so connected to the Korean people that they decided to try on the traditional Korean outfits, which ended up in a fun photoshoot. The last activity of the day was, of course, trying more of the lovely traditional Korean food, like Gimbpab and dumplings. Although, some people had some trouble finding the right place for their desired meal. Several nice locals has been asked about where to find the Gimpab, but none of them could point them in the right direction, at least that is what they thought… Eventually, a young group of Korean people pointed to the other side of the road and told them they reached Gimpab heaven (this was actually the name of the restaurant).
All in all everybody had a wonderful day, and everybody can go to sleep satisfied and on time, because tomorrow the morning will start very early for us.
