Today we had our first company day in Oslo.
At 9:00 we gathered outside of our hostel for our daily briefing, held by our day commissioners Renske and Tristan. On this day we were joined by Thea instead of our usual Alma and Kasia combo. She will be accompanying us for the rest of the trip. From there we took the tram and had a short walk to the Tekniskmuseum. The journey went quite fast and we arrived a little too early at the museum, so we had to wait a bit for it to open. This gave Imke some time to explain the assignment we had to do at the museum: Think of a new creative and interactive installation at the museum and link it to the sustainable development goals.
Everyone walked around for almost three hours, enjoying the different types of installations. It ranged from old cars, planes and trains to medical instruments and illusions.
The museum was larger than expected and everyone managed to enjoy themselves for the entire morning.
After this, we went back to our hostel to eat some lunch and rest for a bit.
Next on the agenda is our first company visit to Oslo: Airthings.
We gathered at 14:40 outside of the hostel and again took the tram to get there.
Because we were early again everyone took some time to enjoy themselves in a nearby park.

Then our visit at Aithings could properly start. Airthings is a company that produces smart home devices that measure various particles in the air to judge your air quality. The presentation was given by Jakub. Airthings has a line of products that are either aimed at professionals or general consumers, who include businesses as well as individuals. What exactly the products measure depends on the exact version. But it can include CO2, Radon and other trace elements. The radon sensor specifically was patented by the company and created by workers at CERN. After the presentation, we got a short tour of their working space and prototyping room.
This concluded the scheduled part of the day. After this, some people chose to go shopping in the city and others started to prepare dinner. Because our hostel rooms come with a kitchen every room decided to cook for themselves, accidentally almost creating the same meal.
Room 1 made a pasta salad
Room 2 made pasta with paprika and chorizo
Room 3 made pasta with tomato and feta
This concluded the first official of hopefully many interesting days in Oslo filled with activities and we’re excited for more!
